Shelly Sells Clippers, But Will Donald Sterling Fight? Could Steve Ballmer Take Team To Seattle?

On this episode of The Unhappy Hour, host Brian Engelman discusses:

– Josh Gordon was recently arrested for a speeding violation, which is not a big deal, but his passenger was arrested for possession of weed. Not good news.

– The SEC wants to have some more leverage on the benefits they can provide their players, or they are threatening to leave Division 1 so that they could start a Division 4 & make their own rules.

– Brian still doesn’t feel as though sports teams should be owned by a person or two. The Green Bay Packers are owned by their shareholders who are the residents of Green Bay. Why should a person be able to ruin sports for the fans? Art Modell stole the Browns from their fans in Cleveland, & now some people are wondering if the Clippers could end up in Seattle.

– Will the Clippers sail run smoothly, or will Donald Sterling follow through with his 1 billion dollar lawsuit against the NBA?

Plus much more!

“Agree Or Disagree” That College Athletes Should Be Paid? Northwestern Can Now Unionize.

“The Unhappy Hour” host Brian Engelman covers the recent decision from the National Labor Relations Board that has ruled that the Northwestern football team can unionize.

Do you think that college football players should be paid?

When Brian attended Bowling Green State University, he volunteered for the Concert Director position at the school.
He worked for a year to transform a $9,785 budget into a $50,000 account through budget re-allocations & co-sponsorships.
The committee booked a $100,000 concert (MTV Campus Invasion Tour featuring Bush & Moby) & ended up creating roughly $15,000 in pure profit after expenses.

While volunteering 20-30 extra hours a week to make the concert a success, it would have been just about totally impossible to work a part time job to pay for some books or groceries, or movies or clothing.

So the host certainly empathizes with students wanting to make some money.
ESPECIALLY when the job they work generates significant revenue for the school.

However, these football players are receiving tuition plus room & board to play a game that they love, so it is a little different.

Plus,…the can of worms or “Pandora’s Box” is now officially open across the country for more people to try and unionize as well.

Take a listen & offer your comments.
